Tilton area residents can give the Gift of Life at the next Red Cross blood drive, scheduled for Saturday, March 6th at the Tanger Outlet Center from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

“Some people may wonder why we’re always asking them to give blood”, says Scott Chisholm, Account Executive. “The reason is simply that blood is always needed. Every day there are patients whose lives depend on blood products. Because less than five percent of eligible people actually give blood, supply is always just slightly ahead of demand”.

According to the Red Cross, red blood cells can only be stored for a maximum of 42 days. Because of this short “shelf life”, donors are continuously needed to replenish depleted reserves.

Gunstock Adaptive will hold its annual one day fundraising event. On Sat March 12, 2010, Ski Teams will gather at Gunstock Mountain Resort. They come in costumes for a day of fun, and to support the non-profit adaptive program Gunstock Adaptive.

When our Teams come to the Party on The Snow, they have a full day of fun scheduled. There are gifts for just showing up as a participant! Party on The Snow provides for Breakfast/Lunch and Dinner. Team members ski and ride Gunstock Mountain from 8:30 am to 10 pm at night! There is a NASTAR course to have fun with. Each storytelling season begins the Thursday before Halloween, and continues every Thursday evening (except holidays) through the end of May. Storytelling Dinners begin at 6:30 pm. The cost is $19.95 per person (plus tax and gratuity) and includes salad, entrée, glass of wine, dessert, and coffee. In a time of great opportunity and economic anxiety, owners of small businesses need an array of resources to help them overcome the challenges and changes they face. MicroCredit-NH, a program of the non-profit New Hampshire Community Loan Fund, provides a variety of resources to both new and existing businesses. To offer information about the program, MicroCredit-NH will hold a free orientation in Plymouth on Thursday, March 18 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Grafton County Economic Development Council (GCEDC), Meredith Savings Bank, 131 Main St.

The meeting will provide information about MicroCredit-NH's business development resources, which include peer education, loan capital, networking opportunities, matched savings through the Individual Development Account program, information about health care options. Local membership options for microbusinesses (up to five employees) will also be discussed.

7pm - No one comes out alone. This one-act play portrays the hilarious and poignant relationship between a Jewish mother and her gay son. The play is based on the conversations that writer/actor Jeffrey Solomon had with his mother, and follows the mother's struggles to accept her son's homosexuality and to come out to herself as the mother of a gay man. Solomon does double duty as both Mindy and Brad, mother and son. He has performed the play in New York, London, Provincetown, and Chicago earning praise for his moving writing and portrayals. Emmy-nominated Solomon is a television writer who has penned children’s shows and comedies for Jim Henson, Fox, Nickelodeon and the Children’s Television Workshop.
