2009 Governor's Export Achievement Award
at 33rd Governor's Conference on Tourism

On Tuesday, May 5, 2009, The Lakes Region Association (LRA) was awarded the 2009 Governor's Export Achievement Award at the 33rd Governor's Conference on Tourism held in Waterville Valley, New Hampshire for it's part in the first-ever United States Department of Commerce - New Hampshire Division of Travel and Tourism Development cooperative marketing initiative which helped secure federal grand dollars for the state.
The Lakes Region Association has taken a leadership role throughout the Lakes Region in connecting businesses and international companies to encourage economic growth via tourism to the area. Most recently, the Lakes Region Association partnered with White Mountain Attractions to spearhead an international traveler attraction pass for the Lakes and Mountains regions of New Hampshire. In addition the Lakes Region Association has actively participated with the New Hampshire Division of Travel and Tourism Development's international marketing efforts over the past five years, including involvement at various tradeshows, sales missions, cooperative advertisements, brochure fulfillment programs and familiarization tours. The other award recipients were the Merrill Farm Resort in North Conway, the Eagle Mountain House in Jackson, and White Mountain Attractions Association
